We have a new favourite vegeatable and it is asparagus.

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog. This will be my last post for now and I may continue it if I have time, ideas,etc. But enough about that and on to the music. This time it will be another big beat group, Lionrock. They formed in 1993 and released two albums, An Instinct For Detection, in 1996 and their second album in 1998 City Delirious. I don't really know much about Lionrock and only heard about them from the movie Go. The song that I choose is called Fire Up The Shoeshaw. It's a really good song and I'll tell you a little bit about it.

The song is a mash up of hip-hop and electro in my opinion and is really good. It features nice hip hop drums in the background and also contains a lot of vocal samples (which I find are really well placed in the song) as well as a nice bass and other blips and beeps,etc. It starts off with a vocal sample of some guy saying that the asparagus is the new favourite vegeatable and the song starts. While the beat plays you can hear some guy going what is rock and roll as well. The song also feels like two completly different songs because in the middle of the song it cuts into a much slower beat with a trumpet playing, which I find is a nice touch. It doesn't have too much of the same beat going on so the listener doesn't get bored. Another note is that the sampling is really well done. I'd recommend this song to anyone who likes hip-hop-esque songs and I'd also recommend seeing the movie Go as this song is in it. Prime

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog, this time I will be talking about an electro artist that I really like and one of their song's. The artist this time is SebastiAn. He originated in Boulogne, France and did tons of remixes and made singles  before releasing his debut album, Total, on May 30th 2011. The song I chose is from the album Total and is called Prime. It's 3 minutes and 21 seconds long, shorter than most electronic music songs but still a good one. SebastiAn has a distinctive style from other electronic artists in my opinion, the way he lays down synths in his songs are just really nice and smooth it's hard to describe but it's something I really like.

About the song. It starts off with clav's going in the background, with a trumpet playing a note  then you can hear a sort of drum roll then the song drops into a nice dark synth with a drum and snare beat playing. The trumpet is also playing which adds to the songs great sound. I really enjoy this song and SebastiAn's music in general  because he has this sort of dark electro sound about him that's just really good. It just gets me really intense and i can really get into the song. What I also like is that, being only 3 minutes long, Prime manages to deliver a pretty heavy beat in such a short time and doesn't take too long for the song to kick into its main beat. It's such a good song and I recommend it  and the whole album to everybody who likes electro or is just looking for a new artist to get into because SebastiAn just might do it for you! All My Friends

Hello everybody and welcome back to my blog. This time I'll be talking about Lcd Soundsystem, which was a American Dance-Punk band( they were active from 2001-2011 before"retiring"). It consisted primarily of Producer James Murphy with Pat Mahoney,Tyler Pope,  Nancy Whang,  David Scott Stone, Matt Thornely,Gavin Rossom, Al Doyle, Phil Skarnich, Phil Mossman and J.D Mark  who'd perform live with James Murphy and occasionally write songs with him as well. They originated in New York under James Murphy's Label DFA Records with their self-titled debut album. They then went on to release two more albums before retiring. The song I'll be reviewing this time is from their second album Sound Of Silver, called All My Friends. While it may not be an electronic music song I still wanted to review it because it's one of my favourite Lcd Soundsytem songs.

So the song All My Friends starts off with fast piano notes and then a drum beat fades in; it plays for a minute and then a nice bass comes, which then leads to the vocals( sung by James Murphy). The song is really nice and has a nice beat going for it, it has nice drums and bass as well as some background noises. What I like the most about this song though are the vocals, more specifically the lyrics. The lyrics start off nice and calm but then they get more frantic and desperate as does the song. The song's lyrics in my opinion are about life's situation's. Like one part says "And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made a fool on the road, there's always this.And if I'm sewn into submission, I can still come home to this." I find that this is talking about how if you make a bad decision in life but have good friends then you can always rely on them to make you feel better or get you back on your feet. The lyrics have tons of meaning and that's why I chose this particular song, it's an amazing song and if you don't take my word for then take the word of PitchFork Media who declared it the second best song of the decade! It's just a really great song on a equally great album. So that's all for now and I'll see you next time.

And now your Punishment is..... to have to read another one of my blog posts.

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. I will once again be talking about a french house artist and one of their songs. This time it will be The Eternals and their song Wrath Of Zeus. I couldn't really find any information about them other than the fact that the song Wrath of Zeus is on Le Knight Club's compilation album Waves. Basically it's a 4 minute and 39 second long joy ride. It's fast catchy and surprisingly..... funny?!



Now about the song.



It starts off with a vocal sample of a man and a woman  talking in a club and complaining that there isn't any good music playing, then the guy asks his (presumably) girlfriend if she wants to go back to his place and she agrees. As they step outside a thunder bolt crashes down and you can hear ZEUS speaking to the group of people, punishing them for desecrating the ways of the ancient gods and sentences them to an eternity of dancing on the club's dance floor. That's what i find is funny about the song. The vocal sample of Zeus is cheesy and classic and just ridiculous. The song is still a serious song but it still gives you a little bit of a laugh, What I also like is once again the drum beats and the nice disco-esque synths. What I also find is really good is how the sample of the two people talking doesn't feel like it's a sample it feels like The Eternals just got two people to record it, but they didn't! So sampling is a big thing this song does well, next to the overall sound and beat. I like this song even though i only hear it recently and want to find more of The Eternals songs (if they have any more). Viva la Revolution!

Hello everybody and welcome back once again to my blog! I'll be  talking about another french house artist and one of their songs. This time it'll be Daft Punk and their song Revolution 909! Daft Punk  are also from France and  consists of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel-Homem-De-Christo ( who is from Le Knight Club). They released 3 studio albums and are going to be releasing one soon! Revolution 909  a song from their debut album, Homework, is one of my favourite songs by Daft Punk and i just can't get enough of it! Revolution 909 in my opinion is 5 minutes and 27 seconds of awesome-ness!


Now to describe the song a little more and give my opinion.

Revolution 909 is just amazing in my opinion. What i find is the best part of the song is the beat they have in the background. It has a steady 4/4 kick,  awesome hi hat rolls that i just love , and a nice snare drum with that nice pounding bassdrum and organ synth that play throughout the whole song . It's just a great club song (if you know what i mean) and it's also a great song to listen to while either going somewhere or listening to on the metro( I don't know about you guys but that's what i feel.) It starts off with what seems to be a sample of the outside of a rave and you can hear a song blazing. Then a cop car comes with it siren on and a cop speaking on a megaphone tells everybody to turn off the music and go home. Then you hear screaming as the song starts to fade in. I find this song is just so good because (in my opinion) you can just get right into the song from start to end and never get bored. So i guess that's it and I'll see you next time!

Playing French House at Le Knight Club!

Hey guys I'm back and this time I wanted to tell you guys about one of my favourite French House Artists. French House and once again to quote Wikipedia is ,"French house is a catch-all term for house music by many French artists, a popular strand of the late 1990s and 2000s European dance music scene and a form of Euro disco. The genre has also been referred to as "neu-disco" (new disco, distinct from the non-house "nu-disco" revival), "French touch", "filter house" and "tekfunk" over the years. The defining characteristics of the sound are heavy reliance on filter and phaser effects both on and alongside samples of late 1970s and early 1980s American or European disco tracks. Celebrated and successful purveyors of this music include Daft Punk,^[1] Cassius and Etienne de Crécy. Most tracks in this vein feature steady 4/4 beats with a tempo range of 110–130 beats per minute." 

The group i chose this time is Le Knight Club. They consist of Guy-Manuel-Homem-De-Christo and Eric Chedeville. They were a french house group under their own label Crydamoure and they are from France. They didn't release many of their own albums but rather made compilation albums with upcoming french house artists  on them as well as a few of their  own songs. The song that I chose to review by Le Knight Club, Holiday On Ice doesn't have a meaning in my opinion, but if I were to describe it I would describe it as a: smooth, relaxed, classic french house song.

Now the things i really like about this song are the nice bassline and the light, "pulsey" synth which are all mixed together with the catchy beat in the background. I also love how its danceable without having to be super intense or fast paced like dubstep or rave music and that it sounds good without being too complex. It's what i think Le Knight Club( and most French House artists) do  so well, which is making a simple song that doesn't seem boring or that sounds like everything else that's out there today and basically making something original and new and fresh.  I can't relate to this song in any personal connections except for the fact that when i download this onto my ipod, every time i go out somewhere I'll be listening to this chill (pun intended) song! The Chemical Brothers

Hello, everyone and welcome to my blog. For the next seven days I will be telling you guys about my favourite House/Electro artists and I will review one of their songs.

So a little bit of information on The Chemical Brothers. They Originated in Manchester England in 1991 alongside other upcoming artists like: The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, The Crystal Method, and many others. They are classified in the Big Beat genre of Electronic Music which- to quote Wikipedia- is " Big beat tends to feature distorted, compressed breakbeats at moderate tempos (usually between 120 to 140 beats per minute), acid house-style synthesizer lines, and heavy loops from 60s and 70s funk, jazz, rock, and pop songs. They are often punctuated with punk-style vocals and driven by intense, distorted basslines with conventional pop and techno song structures. Big beat tracks have a sound that includes crescendos, builds, drops, dramatic sound effects, such as explosions or sirens, and extended drum rolls. As with several other dance genres at the time, the use of effects such as cut-off, phasing, and flanging was commonplace."

So now that i've enlightened you a little bit, i'll get into the just of the song and my opinion.

So to start off, I chose The Chemical Brothers and their song Where Do i Begin, from their second album: Dig Your own Hole. The song starts off with a nice little guitar loop while vocals are sung over the guitar, then the song starts to get more chaotic as minutes go by and it drops into a heavy drum beat.Which I love about The Chemical Brothers music because they can make it all intense with their drum beats but they also add in a eclectic synth or effect that makes it even better, which is present in Where Do I Begin, with that  nice synth in the background! In my opinion this song is amazing because it's very danceable, (even though i don't dance) has beautiful vocals which are sung by Beth Orton, and a meaning behind it. In my opinion the vocals talk about a time in our lives when you just wake up one morning and you realise that you're not really where you want to be in your life or you don't know where you're going anymore which I'm sure a lot of people experience at least once in their lifetime so i can sort of relate to this song.
